INDIA’S CAMPAIGN IN WWT20
The result of women’s Cricket World Cup was almost as it was supposed to be. New Zealand’s ouster from the qualifying stage was like a bit of an upset but it was really astonishing how Indian team performed in this T20 World Cup. It must have been very encouraging for the Indian viewers and fans to watch their team perform like this. The Indian team has been performing very well in the 50-over format. In the 2017 50-over World Cup last year, the Indian team reached the finals, where they were defeated by England and came second. The performance of the Indian team in T20 format was not so good up until now, but in this T20 World Cup, the Indian team has done marvelously well. Although the Indian team could not reach the finals but defeated both England and Australia in the league matches convincingly. I have seen some special changes happening in the team’s performance in this T20 Women’s World Cup.
A LOT OF PROMISING YOUNG PLAYERS:
Most of the players that have been part of the playing eleven of the Indian team are 25 or less. The left-handed batsman, Smriti Mandhana, 22 years old; Jemimah Rodriguez bats at number 3, 18-year-old batsman; Tania Bhatia, 20-year-old all-rounder; Deepti Sharma, 21-year-old, left armor Orthodox bowler; Radha Yadav, 18-year-old are many of the names. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and former Indian captain Mitali Raj are the only players who are more than 25 years old. All these players are young and very promising. After spending some time in international cricket, they will give the Indian team a lot of strength.
THE BALANCE OF INDIAN BATTING:
Due to the T20 format being small, the batter did not get enough time to settle in and score quickly, which had been a big area of concern for the Indian team. To win a T20 match, the team needs batter who can score quick runs, and such batter lacked in the Indian team. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana took over the responsibility of scoring briskly in the upper order and also done it very beautifully. The batting order of the Indian team mainly consists of four batters, including former captain Mithali Raj and Jemimah Rodriguez.
YOUNG BRILLIANT SPAIN ATTACK:
Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma, and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur are also very talented spin bowlers. Poonam Yadav took eight wickets in 5 matches at an average of 15. Her best performance was 3/33 with an economy rate of 6.30, which is considered to be very good by T20 standards. His fellow player Radha Yadav, who also took 8 wickets in the 5 matches at an average of 14 with best figures of 3/25 with a remarkable economy of 5.75, which is exceptional in T20Is. The rest of the bowlers also did well, which is a good sign for the future.
The team’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2018 can be a ray of hope. Last year’s World Cup win has played a crucial role in the team’s morale, and its impact is quite visible. Hopefully, the team’s performance in this T20 World Cup will draw the attention of many fans and Indian fans will get many such opportunities from the team in the coming days. It is a good opportunity for young players to come to the international scene and perform well. There are some areas that have a room for improvement. The team is desperately in search of quality fast bowlers and a specialist fast-bowling all-rounder as well as one or two middle-order batters who can score quickly according to the situation. Of course, the Indian team could not make it to the finals but we should certainly be proud of the performance of the team.
